HOTBOX CURE (ADD-ON)

Maximize the lifespan of your tune. Add an 8-hour HotBox cure to any tuning package or standalone wax. This prolonged heat saturation bakes the condition-specific wax deep into the base for unmatched durability on the hill.

REPAIR & SETUP

BASE WELD (per core shot)

For deep gouges and core shots near the steel edge where standard P-tex fails to stick. We use a specialized Metal Grip copolymer to structurally weld and fuse the damaged area, creating a permanent, high-strength bond that flexes with your gear.

$15

BASE PATCH (coming soon)

The ultimate fix for severe base trauma. We straighten and reset any bent steel edges, completely remove the compromised base section, and replace it with a custom-fit P-tex patch. Epoxied directly to the core and ground flat, this fully restores your gear's running surface and structural integrity.

SKIN FITTING (coming soon)

Precision cut to the profile of your skis.

THE OVERNIGHT WORKFLOW

While the town sleeps, the Lab goes to work. A strict timeline ensuring your gear goes from battered to bulletproof without missing a single morning session.

19:00

THE CUTOFF

All gear must be dropped off at the workshop by 7:00 PM. This locks in your bench space and allows us to organize the night's queue.

21:30

WE GET TO WORK

The shop goes hot. We run full diagnostic checks, execute structural P-Tex repairs, and calibrate your edge geometry on the machines.

00:00

THERMAL CURE

Heavy machinery shuts down. Hot wax is applied and left to penetrate deep into the base pores, curing undisturbed through the early hours of the morning.

06:30

DEPLOYMENT

You're up, we're up. Gear is scraped, brushed, racked, and ready for handoff so you can beat the traffic up the access road for first chair.

REPAIRS PAGE

Base operations are at 4 Pearce Place, Wānaka. Gear must be dropped off during our opening hours 6:30 am - 10:00 am & 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm for a next-day 6:30 AM turnaround.

While booking online or calling ahead guarantees your spot on the bench for an overnight turnaround, walk-ins are always welcome during our opening hours 6:30 am - 10:00 am & 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Just note that overnight turnarounds for walk-ins are subject to how full our racks are that night.

This is not an option yet, but we will look into it in the future. Currently, we operate on a strict overnight model. Rushing a tune compromises precision, and our infrared systems require specific time cycles. Drop it off by 7:00 PM, and it's ready at 6:30 AM.

All standard maintenance, including Standard Tunes, Full Tunes, Infrared Waxing, and the Hotbox add-on are guaranteed overnight. However, major structural repairs (like Base Patching) require additional time for specialized epoxy to properly cure. We will provide an exact timeline during your drop-off assessment. We'll also inform you of any changes to the timeline.

It helps if you wipe off excess snow or mud from the car park, but you don't need to deep clean them. We prep and strip the base with specialized brass brushes and base cleaner before any machine work begins.

Payment is taken at pick-up when your gear is finished. We accept EFTPOS, direct banking, and cash at the workshop.

Yes, we service both. Our workshop machinery, including the infrared waxing system and edge grinders, are fully calibrated to handle both skis and snowboards.

Yes. Minor top sheet chipping is cosmetic, but deep delamination where moisture can reach the core is a structural issue. We use marine-grade epoxy and high-pressure clamping to seal and bond the layers back together. This process requires a 24-48 hour cure time.

Usually, yes. Unless the rust has eaten completely through the steel, our edge machines will easily strip away the surface oxidation and re-establish a razor-sharp, clean bevel.

We specialize in P-Tex welds and base patching. For very extensive repairs requiring structural epoxy, we might need a 48-hour cure window.

Since we focus strictly on tuning and structural repairs, we do not require your boots for any service.

No. Our workshop specializes exclusively in base structures, edge geometry, and wax penetration. We do not mount bindings, perform remounts, or test binding release values (DIN).

Missing edges are currently not a service we provide. We are looking to adding this to services soon.

Unfortunately, that's just the reality of skiing in the Southern Alps! While we stand by our edge geometry and wax durability, fresh rock hits are out of our hands. Bring them back in, and we can get a base patch or weld sorted for you.

Currently, our workshop is exclusively calibrated for alpine skis, freestyle skis, and snowboards. We do not process narrow Nordic or cross-country setups.

No. We are strictly fluoro-free. We use premium Montana waxes for all our jobs, which provide exceptional, long-lasting glide for Wānaka's conditions without leaving toxic forever-chemicals on the mountain.

Edge geometry isn't one-size-fits-all. During your drop-off intake, we'll ask about your skiing level and riding style to ensure the profile matches your needs. If you already know the exact geometry you want, just let us know and we'll calibrate it to match.

Traditional hand-ironing is great, but our contactless infrared track system applies steady, penetrating heat. This bakes the condition-specific wax much deeper into the base pores without risking heat damage to your core, giving you a significantly faster and longer-lasting glide.

It depends on the conditions and how hard you ride. Generally, to maintain peak performance on Wānaka's firmer snow, we recommend a wax every 3 to 5 days on the mountain, and an edge sharpen every 10 to 15 days.

Yes. Factory tunes are notoriously inconsistent, and factory bases are often incredibly dry from sitting in shipping containers. We highly recommend bringing new gear in for a setup tune and a deep wax before you hit the snow so they run exactly how they were designed to.

Yes. If your gear is caked in thick storage wax, our first step is to completely strip, scrape, and clean the base pores before laying down a fresh, condition-specific infrared treatment for the new season.

Absolutely. At the end of the season, we can apply a thick layer of storage wax that we leave unscraped. This seals the base, prevents the P-Tex from drying out over the summer, and protects your steel edges from rusting.
